Resolved 2G MAF on 1G?

My friend is converting to GM MAF on his 2G soon, so I'm buying his MAF for my 1G.
I was looking at the VFAQ and it shows that you can just rewire a 1G plug onto the 2G MAF and plug it into the harness.
Is that all I need? It also said I should tune with an AFC, but for now I'm just stock. Would I need to tune with the AFC or whatever tuning I'd use to compensate for the extra airflow of the 2G MAF?

Yes you would need a Safc to compensate. The 2g flows roughly 20% more air then the 1g, from what Ive been told.
I bought a plug & play 1g to 2g harness so I wouldnt have to splice into anything. Some people here make them, you can also get one on ebay.

You can do the rewire or use a custom harness for plug and play. You will need the 2g intake pipe setup or an aftermarket 2g intake and adapter for the filter as well. Be careful what filter you use, it may be too long to fit. Your car will run about 20% lean if you run the 2g maf without something to tune it.
 
You can buy a mas plug on ebay like 30 bucks. Also get 550cc injectors and that will work for you. If you get afc you can fine tune it.
 
I will probably be buying my friend's whole intake..
Does anyone have any pics of a 2G MAF setup using the rewire method?
 
My old Eclipse had a 2g mas hardwired into the 1g harness. It had an aftermarket intake pipe though. It was a super tight fit.

Mine fits the same way, VERY TIGHT FIT!!! Must remove filter from intake pipe to remove them from car and the filter is right up against the intercooler piping.

I purchased an ebay 1g-2g connector from ebay and it works great. Can't complain for 30 bucks and it allows for easy swap between mafs. As for an safc its quite mandatory and 550cc injectors will be a nice mix. An safc can compensate up to 650cc comfortably. I also highly recommend a wideband if you don't already have one so you can monitor air/fuel ratios. As with this upgrade should also come a fuel pressure regulator for the new injectors and you should rewire the fuel pump.

Same with when my cousin did it it's a very tight fit he had to buy a new filter cause there is literally NO ROOM. You can't even fit a piece of paper through the clearance. Lol.
 
When I installed the 2g mas on my car I used the 1g intake and my 1g k&n air filter. All I did was heat up the rubber intake with a heat gun a stretch it onto the 2g maf. Next I made the filter adapter out of aluminum, this is very similar to the dejon adapter and that's where I got the idea.
