I've already printed and read over the discussion and install tips in vfaq but was just wondering if that is the latest and greatest way to install a 2G maf in my 1G.

I also have another newb question: Yesterday while cruising I decided to take it up to 100mph in 5th. Running part throttle and about 15.5 psi it pulled to 105 easily but my EGT temps were aproaching or right at 900* C which is about 1650* F. I immediately let off and let it decrease in speed while in gear. This temp seemed to be too high. I currently am using a hacked 1G maf but have an old style AFC w/stock injectors. My question is what is the true egt danger zone? Thanks fellas.

That's getting pretty close. Do you have a logger? If you do are you getting any knock? The EGT gauge should not be your only indicator that you are running lean. Also, I would not recommend installing the 2G MAS until you get larger injectors. The 2G MAS flows about 20% more air than stock which means you will be running dead lean. Especially, with what you have on your mod list you will need larger injectors before increasing boost. Larger injectors or not you are going to need to adjust the AFC regardless.

highway egt's typically run higher than cruising or slight wot runs. As for installing the 2g maf into your 1g solder everything!!! and then shrinkwrap it just to be absolutely sure your connections are not going to come apart. When I installed a 2g maf in my 1g I carefully, as in 1 wire at a time, cut the wires from the 1g plug and soldered them to the wires from the 2g plug then shrinkwraped eveything and then threw that plastic wire loom bs over just to give it that complete and stock look.

Oh and just like I'm boosted said, you are gong to want to install larger injectors along with the 2g maf. If you install 550's along with the 2g maf you SHOULD not have to do much tunning at all. Even correcting your reading with the afc with just the 2g mas will be a bad idea as you will be inducing fuel cut earlier by having to richen your a/f so much.

Weird thing is that I was getting zero knock. Could this be a rich situation and gasses are still being burned in the exhaust manni? When I am driving, their is a strong fuel order in the car...to the point that I thought there was a fuel leak...but there are none. My timing is at about 3-4...and I have a mixture of 116 race/ 93 octane fuel in the tank now. I never had this high egt problem before. What could bring this on out of no where? Thanks again for the help.
