Resolved 2g MAF in 1g car

Well this has been discussed 100's of times. But since I am bored i'll go ahead and answer it for you. If you get some 550 or 560 injectors that is all, even though it would be smart to have some type of tuning device. So a quick and short answer would be larger injectors, and something to tune with. SAFC, dsm link, burnt chip.

I'm using a 2g maf and compensating for it with my safc.
Work's fine ;)

could you get away with just running the 2g maf

Not just the 2g MAF. You need some way to compensate for the different MAF.
The 2g MAF put out readings that are about 20% less than the 1g MAF. It just so happens that 550cc injectors are about 20% larger than the stock 450s. The ECU fuel trims can usually handle the rest of the compensation. It's still a good idea to have some way to dial it in though.

Short answer:
No.

Ok Option:
2g MAF + 550cc injectors (You'll run a bit more timing. Fueling may not be optimum.)

Better Option:
2g MAF + SAFC (Will leave you with less timing, but fuel can be correctly controlled.)

Best Option:
2g MAF + 550cc injectors + SAFC (Will return timing to normal. Fuel will also be controled correctly at all RPM).

Gettingpaper: Yes you can do that and it works out fine. But why switch from a 1g maf to a 2g maf if you dont plan on pushing more more air and fuel? Thats why people switch so they dont overrun their maf. I am just guessing he is switching for that reason, so bigger injectors wouldnt hurt. But I do understand what youre saying.

I plan on getting bigger injectors in the near future.
But for now it's just fine ;D

ok i got a project that did not come with one but i have a friend with a 2g maf so i was seeing what i would need and if i could just run it by it self for a while till i get my tax returns. or there is option b i can use a gm -maft and the gm sensor but i dont a lot of looking in to that but i dont get how to set the maft to the car

If you just run the 2g maf with out anything to compensate for it
you'll run really lean..
Just get a tuning device.
Makes thing's much easier. :p

I'm running the 2g MAF on my 1G with precision 550 injectors and stock ECU, no S-AFC. Runs good and strong at all RPMs. If anything I'd say it may be running a little rich, but I have no way to prove that other than my opinion. My mbc blew up on me so I'm running straight wastegate now at 7psi and it feels pretty damn fast. I had the AFC Neo but I could never get that effing thing to work so I just took it off and ran without one. I plan to get a wideband and some kind of controller to get things right when I turn the boost up again.
