Long story short, timing jumped and obviously bent some valves. Should I still get the head machined? I was planning on getting a port and polish job on it while its off anyway. Also planning on changing the cams, lifters and all that good stuff. Will machine shops usually do all this? Or should I just do it all myself?

Just have the machine shop do a resurface, some mild port and polish to get rid of casting flaws and check all the valve guides.

You don't need to port and polish a 2g head just minor port work to get rid of casting flaws. Run stock sized valves and upgrade your springs while you're in there. Run some Kiggly springs and get a nice set of 272's. Do some research and see what will go well with your current or future setup. Good luck man. :thumb:

Realistically you will be wasting money on getting the head ported. Just have what is damaged repaired and save some money. You will not notice any difference with minor port work, you might even lose power if it is done without a flow bench.

Yeah.... The 2g/Evo heads were designed a specific way which works. Porting it could very easily damage it. If any porting takes place, only port match the exhaust side. Don't touch the intake side. the whole concept relies on the velocity and angle of the runners.

Feel free to call us at (269)350-9055, we can go over a head build if you would like along with pricing.
