I just reread this. I dont think I'm right. Originally I read tcase which doesn't matter. OP changed trans and tcase. 95 96shaft is definitely different than 97 up.
Its not different. I have, at this point, ran a 97-99 t-case and trans, blown it up. then ran a 95-trans and tcase.. didn't like the welded c/d.. and then switched back to the original 97 t-case with a different 97 trans. all using the same half shaft.

Only AWD cars use a half shaft setup with a carrier bearing. Thus, since there are 2 different types of halfshafts (in terms of mounting) and two different styles of AC bracket, it is important to use the correct year bracket with the same year halfshaft. Straight up trying to use a FWD AC bracket will not work. Thus, if Gandalf did not change his halfshaft or AC bracket, it should not be a problem.

UNLESS spline count and shaft length is different.. That, I cannot comment on.
