I have a bunch of stuff to do to the DSM. I'll be doing as much as money will allow, focusing more on restoration and cleaning things up than performance. ...For now.

I developed an exhaust leak between the turbine and o2 housing last week so I decided to park it for the Winter. I started a list of things to do and then pulled the wheels and took off my coilovers. I put them up for sale as I have new ones coming soon.

I thought I'd start this to help get myself motivated and to help me keep track of what i need to do and what I get done. Lots of pics to come.

Here are some things I plan on doing broken down into 2 catagories in random order:

Performance:
-Differential bushings
-Subframe bushings
-DG coilovers
-Evo3 o2 gasket
-v3 + SD
-Aluminum intake for SD
-Install exhaust cutout
-cams
-Install my ES suspension bushings
-Get front Evo Brembos mounted
-Aluminum radiator
-1g throttle body?
-New air filter
-HX35???
-Set ride height and alignment

Restoration:
-Longer Fluidampr bolts
-Need sidemarker pigtail
-Mid timing cover
-Fuel pump relay harness
-Re-relocate my battery
-Wire tuck(as much as I can take :barf:)
-Fix any and ALL rust!!!
-Wire wheel, neutralize, coat
-Replace headlight support
-Build media blast cabinet
-Buy a dehumidifier for the garage
-Blast and paint subframes w/ chassis black
-Blast and paint suspension w/ chassis black
-Replace or blast and coat fasteners
-New fuel pump O-ring & recheck fuel pressure
-3g suspension parts
-Install my new intercooler couplers
-Paint/powder anything that looks nasty
-U-pol Raptor coating on underbody & wheel wells
-2ga knuckles
-New fender liners
Repair threads in front swaybar mount on subframe

That's a start.

I have done much of whats on your list. I totally wire wheeled the whole wheel wells to bare metal and removed all the old seam sealer. I por-15, applied new seam sealer, primed, vht epoxy painted and rubber undercoated.

New upper ball joints, lower control arms, poly bushings, poly swaybar bushings, new sway bar endlinks, painted the knuckle, upper control arm, and tie rod ends.

still have to do the rears.

but I have at least 20 hours in the front wheel wheels. Rears are to be done sometime this week.

Cool! I've been staring at ES bushings, Eastwood chassis black, and an unopened sandblaster kit since February. I figured if I'm tearing the suspension out I might as well go a bit further and pull the subframes etc and completely restore the underneath of the car.

My car will eventually need this. I'll probably tear into it a bit this winter. Right now I'm just trying to keep the rust at bay.

I really wish I had a good media blaster though. I'd just throw my car up on a lift and go to town. 244,000 miles and 13 years of PA winters has not been kind to my car under there.

I can't wait to have a media blaster. I'l be building one following the blasting thread on here. I'll probably make it 6'x4' or 6'x6'. I just put a roof on my dads house and I have a lot of osb and other lumber left over.

And yeah, PA winters are harsh. I daily drove mine from when I got it in 2001 until about 2006-2007. 80 miles a day. I plan on keeping the car for a long time so might as well get this done before it has as much rust as my Talon does.

I've got a feeling that I'll do a lot of tearing apart, blasting, and ordering parts this Winter. Then in the Spring when I can open the garage doors I'll paint and reassemble.

might be off topic but i have a question about rust, im looking at a 97 gsx, the rear tire wells in the area where you would put a jack more or less is rotting out, i can have my fingers under the car and poke them threw to where you can see them in the tire well, how bad of a problem is this ? and is it possible even to fix it?

It is a major problem, I would find a different car. I fixed this on my 96 Talon and it was a ton of work. I have a week into fixing just one side. I had to rebuild the pinch weld jacking area then build the new rocker onto that.

Before: This is how much rocker panel I had to cut out. These 2 pics are about 1/2 way done, there is a lot of new structural metal in there.

Do you have any pictures of the wire tuck?
No, I haven't started anything just yet.

I found them on ebay as a complete set. Fitment on the rear is 100% bolt on. For the front you either need the jdm galant knuckle or you need to buy KMV's bracket. You'll also need wheels with a lot of room for clearance.
