I'm posting this here as it is my first official question and I'm not entirely certain what forum it is best suited for.

With that said, I am wanting to buy a set of coilovers for my 97 GST. The car is completely stock and will be used for street use only.

Does anyone know anything about Yellow Speed Racing coilovers? (Link below)

I personally love the look of these (I know they can't really be seen once installed, but still). However I have been unsuccessful finding any information or reviews for this particular set searching in the forms and scouring google.

Future plans:
I will most likely be following the stage 1 & 2 upgrade path provided in the resources tab.

Thanks in advance!

The best coilovers tend to be the most compliant on less-than great road surfaces, yet deliver great performance during spirited and competitive driving. They absorb the imperfections without rattling your fillings loose. They aren’t harsh when driving around on normal roads. That’s usually the key characteristic that is different between the cheap coilover options and the higher quality options. It’s why I always wanted the Ohlins kit for the 1g.

Yeah ot does depends greatly on the piston and valving. I used to use KYB on an older daily and was lovely on roads and really stiffened up in the corners. But ohlins and such use 7 post rigs to data plot the entire valving structure. These rigs are crazy for getting the best from the shocks in different situations and they can drive a circuit to see its true effect on the car! I nearly got to go see one once with a race team/suspension developer but they ended up closing off and being not up for it the closer it got.

So they and some of the top end systems will be far better for the all around setup. Alot of times when it comes to more than 1 way valving its very hard for people to get them setup correctly for low and high speed adjustments.

Yup, the good kits ride nearly as comfortable as stock but handle 100x better than all the other "popular" cheap options on the market that are simply generic designed kits that ride harsh all the time and definitely don't soak up bumps that well. But it's what the market is drawn to due to the lower price tag.
