Ok guys want your advice for going either Megasquirt or Eculink? I know more about eculink but was just thrown a wrench by someone saying megasquirt is better because of speed density. I would like some more info from people here. Thanks guys

ok complete noob here with that. how hard is it to do and hook up and where do I get it

Complete noob? No worries.

I recommend ECMlink. Not because it's the cheapest/best tuning solution out there, but because it's the cheapest/best tuning solution for noobs. By far, it has the greatest amount of support...followed by the greatest amount of individuals who know the software and will actually be willing to help you derp your way through the learning process.

Not to mention, in addition to being great tuning software, ECMlink is a great diagnostic tool as well. It's got everything you need to make the most out of whatever parts you end up throwing at the car, while making sure everything is functioning as it should.

If you're looking to start tuning from the ground up, ECMlink is the way to go for noobs IMO. If you plan on someone else tuning the car, then get whatever they recommend, as they will be the ones dealing with the tune.

how good and how hard is it to tune with ceddy mod. I think I actually have a 98 ecu for a gst I forget if they are compatible for a gsx

Get ecmlink first if you have never tuned before when i built my 1st dsm it was first car i ever tackled something like that i wanted to go all out i bought aem and i couldnt get the damn thing to start i traded for link v3 full plug in the numbers it said in the wiki page for it and watched their videos on their site got in the car fired it up then i did a log as they said and the car ran pretty damn good as it was like that i was able to get to 5.5k rpm like that before knock made a count so i started messing with number as they said in the videos on links website and i was able to make 17psi pulls all the way to 8k on my hx35 built motor car i will always go with link in another dsm best option chestest and has all the support you could ask for

I have helped install and tuned a few Megasquirt powered 4g63s and I will say that it isn't easy. Yes you get speed density (also possible with Link) and you can do a few things that you can't with link, but there is always something else to do. If you're new to engine tuning, your best bet is to get ECM link. You will have much less of a head ache and a much shallower learning curve with it due to the amount of support and information available.
