I have to replace the ECU in my 98 GST and im wondering if any other 2G ECU will work... im not trying to get an EPROM or chipped one right now as im not looking to run it any further than I am right now at least for a while. So will any 2G ECU work or is there specific differences in year or by ecu ID#'s etc??

and actually i dont know much about ecus/computers and electrical stuff.... are the stock ECU's EPROM or not? i see a lot of auctions in the classifieds for 2G eprom ecus... i/e - is my factory ecu in my car thats fried right now an eprom?

No, it's probly not eprom, the only 2g eprom ecu's were made in 95, I could be wrong, but you can use any 2g turbo ecu in your car.

You can use any 2g turbo ECU. EPROM ECUs only came with the 95 models.

Not all ECUs made in '95 are EPROM, but even if you get one that is, I'm pretty sure you can use it in your car with no difference from your old one.

If you use a 95 or 96 ecu you will need to swap spark plugs.

If you have the option of buying an EPROM vs. non-EPROM ECU for the same price, consider that the EPROM ECU is very desireable for those folks wanting to run DSMlink in a post-95 DSM. Like, I'd trade you my non-EPROM ECU ('97) for a functioning EPROM ECU - I'd even throw in a little $$$, and many others would, too. Something to keep in mind.
