My car is in the shop because it wasnt getting very strong reference signals. The shop narrowed it down to the ecu. This is in my 95 talon, so i gave them my 95 mitsubishi ecu to try and they said they got signal but very weak signal. He told me that the talon ecu has different numbers than the mitsubishi ecu and that they werent interchangable..

is this true?
will someone better explain it?

Complete list of differences:

None.

They may have different part numbers just out of Chrysler's perversity, or to fit their specific catalog scheme. Most of the current Talon replacement hardware just comes in Mitsubishi packaging anymore.
