I went 120mph at only 22psi also.

Water/Alky injection is good, but it does not come without draw backs.

I see your DSM link has made you numb to tunning the car yourself, as it had dont to many others. I use something called a DATALOGGER, maybe you have heard of it? With the values aquired from their, I can tune my injector duty, O2, the whole shibang to get the most timming without knock possible. That is the name of the game.

Timming=Power

Boost=Power

Oh, and if you have this "crazy knock" you speak of, you would not get any good timing because the computer will pull it as much as possible. So, in essence, you dont know what the hell your talking about. Since you tune your car the have no knock, would it be cool it you had 10 deg. advance at WOT, and no knock? That would be sweet eh?

I'll keep my 25 deg. peak advance and no knock thanks.

AFC-150$
Datalogger-15$ with cable and software
Being able to tune your car for maximum power (lots-o-timing) with no knock to make your small16g powered car go fast enough to make DSMlink boy scratch his head....
Priceless.

haha..ok...no i dont use "loggers", i use a wideband and I watch knock

You might have a 1g, in a 2g, a dataloger is fairly useless....let me guess, you look at the all important o2 voltage right, i mean, top pro's use stock o2 sensors to tell their a/f....what was i thinking

120mph on a s16g? thats high, congrats, are you in the time list? I think thats a record, wonder why i never heard that, 120mph would require airflow that hte s16g cant physically support, unless your car weighs 2400lb at which point its no longer a car, or a dsm

"tune" your injector duty?
"o2"?? Oh yeah, thats real accurate
you know what the afc does to your timing and how great that works on pump gas??
im tryina make out what youre saying, sometimes the wrong word usage confuses me, but i think you said something about my 10deg tming? not sure, but anyways, on 91 octane, I dont really go above stock timing curves, about 16* at wot redline, without water injection

25* peak on pump gas, at 22psi, with no knock? Hmm...must be some magical pump gas, or youre just not making any power

Tell me again how you run a s16g to 120mph in the traps on a regular dsm without some magic?

Tuning is simple, i used to build base complete maps on my turbo standalone focus, and most tuning is the same, so how is your magical tuning making you run 120mph in the traps and not everyone else? You can only add so much timing, you can only run so lean, you can only run so much boost on a s16g

but no, i dont believe that you ran 120mph at 22psi on a s16g

Well the good thing is that you are comparing 2 different sizes but the exact same design. I think you will find that the larger intercooler will do better for a turbo that can charge it but for your current setup I doubt it would make a difference. The only thing I really dont like about the 7" or 10" for that matter is the fact that both the inlet and outlet are on the bottom, promoting flow through the lower part of the core not throughout the entire core.
Higher preasure is really the only thing that will overcome that issue tho.

TRUE...IMO design and flow characteristics is most important in terms of effeciency....bling bling polishing and the likes are for car shows.

are you trying to say that dsm link is a bad way to tune your car?

dsmlink sux...i mean, what good about tuning fuel AND timing

AFC is king, the timing just takes care of itself

I remember reading that one guys post about how he used to have an afc and had 24*+ timing, then got a dsmchip and was getting back down to like 16*(which is what its supposed to have on pump and more boost) although his car felt just as fast and much smoother, he was pissed at first, but then was educated on how it works and why he's back down to normal timing

Look at it this way. Stock car, small turbo, 10psi, 16* timing, requires premium, a/f in the 9's

You think running a biger turbo, 22psi, 25* timing, same premium fuel, a/f in the 12s is going to be safe for long??hahahahaa...thats a joke

There are tradeoffs to everything.

I save my timing for the racetrack and racegas

But please, teach me on how to run 120mph on a regular weight dsm?

As for me, look at my name, use your brain, and figure it out. Makes life a tid easier. That’s stock bottom end, stock cams, stock ECU, little 550cc injectors. Even though my car is lighter than a front driver, I still would need to make over 300whp to get to 120mph trap speed, as I made those runs with full interior and a tool box in the trunk.

Local DSM WWDers have gone 118.9, and 118.3. A local AWD went 118.1 on the evo 16g. It can happen if you know how to drive, and know how to tune to make some power. Other than that, I cant help you.

As for your timing info, it is a FACT that all things being the same, a car with 16 deg. advance will be slower than a car with 25 deg. advance, period. It is really that simple.

As for my magic pump gas, its not that, it’s my magic bar and plate intercooler, thanks for inquiring. I for one think DSMlink is great because you can FORCE timing on the 2g with it. Again, remember timing=power. My motor has 5psi less compression in 3 cylinders and 3 less in one compared to at the beginning of the season, and that it with 9 track visits and constant street flogging, so I would say my tuning is just peachy keen.

Come to the shootout and I’ll show you my logs when my stock bottom end pig makes some 130mph+ passes on an AFC.

If you want to pursue this any further, PM me, I’m sick of threads turning into pissing matches over simple facts that are misunderstood.

Sorry to all the decent folks who have to read this shit.
