I raised my boost today after I installed dsmlink and 950cc injectors and since ive been playing around my dipstick has came out once and halfway out several other times. I just did a compression test tonight and I got 180 psi across all 4 and my motor is a 6 bolt rebuit 3k mi ago and has a mls headgasket. The first time it happend I accidentally hit 30 psi then I smelled smoke and pulled over to find oil all over. Its happened several other times at 20 psi when I was messing around with dsmlink. Other than my pcv valve (which I checked by blowing through it about 2k ago and it was fine) I dont know what could cause that unless there was a problem with my hg but I wouldnt think so with the compression numbers I just got.

id recheck the pcv valve and clean it. just spray carbcleaner through it in both directions till it comes out clear

For $3 you could just replace the PCV valve and know its good.

How are the seals on your dipstick? They tend to turn to hard rubber over time and that could loosen it up a bit.

I cant get to the mitsu dealer until saturday but I will check on the dipstick seals tomorrow morning. But should there be that much crankcase pressure to even blow out dipstick?

A new dipstick still might not be enough.

I suggest using a hose clamp on the dip stick tube, and then wrapping some safety wire around the hose clamp and around the dip stick handle itself. This will prevent that sunnofabitch from ever making a WOT a 2hour clean up affair.

:)

My last motor did the same thing. What you need to do is just take a pair of pliers and squeeze the top of the dipstick tube where it makes it tight when you pull the dipstick. Only do this if you have a 1G dipstick tube because the 2G ones are a piece of crap and will break the plastic holder off.

Ive got the 2g dipstick and tube, Ive thought about the hose clamp idea but I was wondering if the pressure build up would be enough to blow any of the oil seals instead of popping the dipstick tube out. I also checked out the dipstick and the two o-rings are still soft. I didnt get a chance to check out the pcv valve becuase I had to go somewhere after I got off work. So I will check out the pcv/boost leak test tomorrow after I get off work. So can anyone tell me if making a tie down would blow out an oil seal or would I be fine doing that?

were you refering to the tie downs or how certian condition motors blow out the dipsticks or both?

I thought Id update you all on my progress. I tied down my dipstick with a hose clamp and some wire, then I blocked off my faiv ports on the lower half of the tb, then I did a boost leak test. I have no leaks except for my pcv valve leaking into the crankcase (I did a temp block off of the pcv to make sure nothing else leaked into the crankcase). So whenever I get up to the mitsu dealer, I should have a leak free system.
