1G 2g chip in 1g ECU

so a buddy of mine has an extra eprom chip from his 2g and i have a 1g with a socketed eprom and im curious if the 2g chip will work in a 1g eprom because if it does ill have a free chip. also the chip is a full stage 3 set for 780cc injectors which i will pick up if the chip works.
