I have been checking out various places to get my 1997 7 bolt rebuilt and am starting to get a little confused.
I found this on Overbore.com:
There are 4 generations of this engine:
1st Generation (1989 - Apr 1992)
Mitsubishi 2.0 Liter Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) 4G63T
Description: 6-bolt crankshaft
2nd Generation (May 1992 - Jan 1994)
Description: 7-bolt crankshaft 1st design, 1 piece crankshaft saddle. Engine block is a 1st generation cylinder head and a round bellhousing.
***All 2nd generation engines include out Crankwalk block correction for the trust bearing.***
3rd Generation (Feb 1994 - May 1997)
Description: 7-bolt 2nd design. Engine block has a 2nd generation cylinder head with small intake ports and cam sensor under intake cam gear. The block has a half round half square bellhousing.
4th Generation
Description: 7-bolt 2nd design. Engine block 2nd generation cylinder head with small intake ports and cam sensor on back of intake camshaft. Block half round half square bellhousing.

The question is what are the differences as far as crankwalk and other reliability issues?
Are there certain years that are more prone to crankwalk?
If building a 7 bolt what year is the best for rebuilding?
What year is best for a stroker and why?
