I have a 98 GST with an EPROM ECU that I just put brand new DSMLink v3 into. With key on/engine off, the check engine light stays on and doesn't go out after 5 to 6 seconds like it should. I also cant connect to link.

The ECU looks fine on inside but could it just be a bad ECU sinse check engine light never goes out?

If I put the black box ECU in the car starts up but runs like crap due to bigger fuel injectors. Hence why I got DSMLink and an EPROM ECU.

Also the car will not fire up with EPROM ECU could that also be in relation to the check engine light being stuck on just a bad ECU all around?

Any help or direction to the right post or thread would be greatly appreciated. thank you all that see this and could help me out.

You said YOU just put V3 in? I'd make sure the chip is in all the way, and in the correct orientation.

If that all checks out, I'd give ECMTuning a call and make arrangements to send the ECU in and have them check it out.

The chip was in right, it's just a bad ECU. I already had it prior to getting DSMLink and it already had a socket in it.

I got another ECU from a friend, put the link chip in and it connected right away to laptop, car fired right up.

I'm gonna send ECU to them anyway to see whats up with it and if it can be repaired keep as a spare. Thank you for the reply

Did your ecu work right when you got it back from link?

i didnt get the ecu from ECMTuning. I already had it came with a previous parts car. That ecu is long gone tho. it was bad as well turns out.

I would send the ecu back to ecmtuning and have it looked over and repaired. They can test it and clean it up if its not to bad. Eventually your buddy will need his back.

Ended up buying it off my buddy, gave the other one away which was repaired i believe.
