2g alternator went bad. want to upgrade need opinons.

well my alternator went bad and I want to upgrade the weak alternator to something decent. I seen that some replacement alternators come with 90 amps. Does anybody think a 90 amp is good enough or should I invest in something more powerful.

Depends on what you have installed as far as current draw (ie: really large amplifer and subs). Normally the stock size is sufficient.

^^ +1. Try to get a name brand like Bosch, Denso. If you get the typical rebuilt ones from autostores (eg. Autozone) plan on replacing it yourself 2-3 times in the next year (or week) under their "free lifetime replacement policy". Just check other threads on here for proof. A good place to buy an alt is a shop that repairs just starters and alts for dealers/shops (yellow pages). They have new, rebuilt, name brands, or can fix/upgrade yours.

well right now I dont have anything out of the ordinary that would be taking a big load but I would like to have the power to run a decent audio system if I ever get around to it.

Stock size will prob. do it for you then. You have to install some pretty big stuff to justify a larger alternator. And like Rallye said, steer clear of autozone and the like...
