ok, my alternator is bad. been confirmed by a mechanic friend, etc. but now i need to remove it.
any tips on how to do this? i'll print up the shop manual pages, but i know there are always tips and tricks to do it right.

also, where should i get it rebuild? should i get it rebuilt?

Usually if you buy an alternator, you trade in your core (for a discount) and they give a refurbished one. I don't know if the 2G is the same as the 1G, but on mine all I had to do was remove that plastic sheild in the lower engine compartment, and work the alternator out from there (kind of a #@%#@%#@%#@%#@%). Other than that it was a straight forward R&R.

I replaced mine 2 weeks ago i took the plastic piece out their 3 bolts holding the altnetor bracket on take thoes out and the bolt holding the altnator in it fits out the bottom but only one way have fun

Yep, remove the wheel and wheel well plastic. Very helpful to remove the driver side rad. fan also. Need to pull the bottom long thin pivot bolt and the ONE bolt on top that goes thru the bracket into the alternator itself.

I hope we shouldnt need to remind you to DISCONNECT the battery :D
