Resolved 2G Alternator removal

I found out today my alternator has finally died and iam trying to get the alternator off took the top bolt and pivot nut off but can not find where the bottom bolt is i looked at the fender wall on the driverside but didn't see a head for the bolt. I have a 98 gst if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it alot thank's.

?are you trying to say that you can not remove the alternator(because you cant find the bolt to remove) ? or that you just can not find a bolt for it (dropped it )?

Man there are only 2 bolt/nuts holding the alternator on is right above the oil filter and the other you can access it throw the power steering arae and thats the one that set tension to the alt once you loose that bolt remove the belt and replace the alt.

The head of the alt. bolt is special big-square shaped. To the un-trained mechanical eye it would be sorta easy to miss. You need to raise and safely support that front corner of the car and remove the tire. For the effort spent doing that, it'll open up alot more work-room to see what your doin.

Oh i see now the bottom bolt is near the oil filter? I was looking near the tire at the front of the alternator, i seen a nut where the oil filter is i was hoping it wasn't there. Is there a easy way of getting to the nut by the oil filter?

Yes, I use a gear-wrench that is flex-head. For as easy as it unscrew the oil filter. Its not gonna pour out or hurt anything. Move the oil filter, remove the tire. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING

your in luck because there is. tools and the motivation to try. that seems to work from what i'm told.

I don't know how it is with the 2gs but I use a small extension longer than the filter but not long enough that it hits the downpipe, never had an issue, Alt issues I can do a swap in 30 mins now...
