Say I wanted to put some forged pistons in what are the benifiets vs. the downfalls? can this be done by simply droping the oil pant and installing them or should the engine be pulled completely off? also does it need to be machined to match the pistons? take it easy LOL this is all new to me and thanks

Pistons install from the top of the block (not from the bottom) and putting forged pistons on stock 7-bolt rods is a waste of money and time.

Here's a comparison of a stock 7-bolt rod (left) next to a stock 6-bolt rod (right) that Brian (19Eclipse90) had posted here on our site.

Yeah I just want to know about the evo pistons or the wisco pistons are they worth much do they net anything significant Im only looking to run 280-320 hp

My head is currently off and I just want to cover all bases LOL I dont want any problems later, I want a solid built daily

The head has to come off, the pistons will not fit between the mains and cannot be installed from below. Also, dropping fresh pistons and rings into worn out bores is not recommended. Bores need checked for roundness and taper, then cut as little as possible to correct them. After boring, if needed, they each get honed out to provide the PTW spec of the piston manufacturer for each actual piston you provide to the machine shop after you know how much the bores will have to be enlarged in order to correct them.

The weakest link in 7 bolts are the stock rods, putting forged pistons on those provides no real benefit.

Evo 4+ pistons in a DSM is a hack mod. Don't do it. Pistons have offset pins and valve reliefs specific to the engine they were designed for.

Also, you shouldn't have to worry about the stock 7 bolt bottom end until you are over 400 awhp, provided you do the proper maintenance, don't overheat it and you use good oil.

So then just do the cams, FMic and down pipe and I should be good, btw I got everything done on the big 16g except those three and a bosst gauge LOL

And I only belive in royal purple

You dont need cams to get to 300hp.
If you're engine is healthy and dong plan on going over 300hp then I would stick to stock bottom end and stock head. Freshen up if needed. Take head to get inspected and replace whats needed..
