2g 6 bolt swap help.

So I've done some searching and I haven't had much luck.

Recently I've 6 bolt swapped my car. I'm running a 6 bolt bottom end with a 2g head.

The oil filter has 2 large AN fittings with no hose connected and I was wondering if anyone can help me on the routing.

Assuming one goes to the turbo and the other one will be for coolant and the other will be for oil , but which is which?

I also ordered new head bolts and they didn't come with washers. Can I just use M12 grade washers for this?

Those fittings are for an oil cooler.

They are for an oil cooler. I just looped them myself. Saw no ill effects. Engine still runs and takes beatings everyday.

You cannot block them. You can loop them, but why not do it properly and add the oil cooler?

Been through hell with the car so far and the wife needs my car for work which leaves me nothing to drive. I needed this running like a week ago .

Not saying I won't add a oil cooler, I just need it up and going now for local commutes.

So now that I got that situated, I'm lost on some of the hoses.

The oil filter had 3 lines running out of it on the 7 bolt and the 6 bolt bottom end I'm using has 0.

I ran the oil feed from the head, now I have the coolant lines to worry about.

How ever I hook the collant lines up, I'm going to have a open line with coolan flowing out of it.

I used the 2g coolant tube from the thermostat house to the water pump because I used the 2g head.

Should I use the 1g one?

The only way using a 1G thermostat / water pipe setup will help is if that from a '90 model is used. Otherwise, there are just as many open ports to deal with.

The 7-bolt originally has the water-cooled oil cooler coolant feed and coolant return and the turbocharger oil feed coming out of the oil filter housing. By using the '90 oil filter housing, there is no need for the water-cooled oil cooler feed or return. These are fed from the thermostat housing and return to the water pipe near the water pump on all '91+ turbo DSMs. That is two of the open ports. With a 2G water pipe on a 6-bolt block, the third open port will be the turbo coolant return.

What can be done is use the water-cooled oil cooler coolant feed at the thermostat housing as the turbo feed and return the coolant from the turbo as normal to the water pipe. Then, simply cap the third port which would be the return from the original water-cooled oil filter housing. Not my personal preference, but it will work.

Now what would be best to cap the 3rd one with? Will it build pressure and shoot off what I cap it off with?
