420A 2G 420a Weird Starting... Not sure whats wrong

I sometimes have to crank my talon more than 10 times to get it to start. I put new NGK spark plugs at .048 GAP and new wires, and it did not fix my issue. I checked fuel pressure in the fuel pressure line where the filter is at and it is around 42 PSI. I replaced my fuel filter, and am still having the same issues. When I crank the car I have to push the gas pedal because if I don't the rpm drops to 0 and it doesn't start.

My cars idle drops fast sometimes after I let go of the gas when driving. Sometimes the idle drops to 0 and then the car just dies.When driving sometimes the car will just die as if you remove the key from the ignition. When this happens I pull over and try to start the car and it works and drives normally, but sometimes it takes over 10 cranks to get it to start. This has been an ongoing issue. It stopped for a few months and now came back again. when driving the car dies as if you remove the key from the ignition and when you give it gas it doesn't go.

Could it be the ecu? I am not really sure at this point. My check engine light is not on. When i tried putting a computer scanner reader on the sider under the steering wheel it didn't even respond. Perhaps the wires are bad in that area..I don't know what else to diagnose here.. would appreciate some direction..

Any other impute? Is there a step by step tutorial on where the ECU is on the 2G and how to remove it? I tried searching couldn't find any..

Can the ECU cause malfunctions and cause it not to start and then start normally randomly? I figured a blown ECU will not cause the car to run good a few days..

No its not. The ecu is under the hood by the fuse box.

Have you checked all your fuses?

Have you checked wiring at the major sensors? Throttle position, IAC, crank and cam sensors?

Have you cleaned the throttle body?

ECUs going out on the 420a are not as common as the 4g ECUs. You can pull it out but all you are going to find inside is a board encased with hardened silicone to make it weather proof. You might be able to see blown capacitors/other tell tale signs of a bad ecu.

What you are describing sounds more like bad wiring/ faulty sensors.

I cleaned my throttle body a month or so ago when I changed my idle control valve. All my fuses are good and not blown. I have not tested my crank or cam sensors.

The car seems to be running OK now. Like I mentioned earlier it just dies randomly. Not really sure why. I will pull the ECU tonight an check for blown capacitors

long term thing for sure. at least 2 years.

looks like it started again after the car was running fine for a week.. still can't figure out whats wrong

replacing Cam Position Sensor tmrw. will report back.

it should be under the car near the oil filter i believe
