Hey DSMers - I'm Chris and I own a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD DSM. I simply love it. About a year ago I hit a problem. It's called the Balance Shaft. Now I'm taking it out. I'm taking the whole engine out along with it and I have been researching mods and upgrades since I will have the block out anyway.

My first objective with the motor is to get it as reliable as possible: replacing seals, freeze plugs and the such. Advice on restoring reliability to the motor is very welcome.

Basically, I want to know how the fuel upgrades will work in harmony with one another. I want to attain at least 250 crank hp. I hear about the Walbro 255 and 190 fuel pump. The bigger injectors, rails, and lines. And let's not forget the fuel pressure reg. How do these work in harmony with each other and stay safe? I know that the ECU controls fuel so is it pointless to do fuel upgrades without a new/tuned ECU since it controls the amounts of fuel. Also, what is the size of the stock manual trans. injectors. Are they 450cc?

Also, I am upgrading the IC piping. I'm not going to go FMIC yet. If I were to do that I would need a hookup with a cheaper priced system.:talon:

Side note: I can't wait for my Kawasaki Ninja 250R. It's my first motorcycle.

ok if your talon is a manual then yes you have 450 injectors. makeing 250 hp on a 4g63 is not hard it can be done with minor mods

Ok, but what about fuel upgrades. I'm going to go 550cc injectors, a slightly better flowing fuel pump and filter (probably from Import Evo), and the right rail and regulator, of which I will learn more.:talon:

I just need to know what fuel components tend to work well together. I want a safe, efficeint fuel upgrade.:talon: Those of you that have been satisfied with your set up, your advice is appreciated.

Good! This proves that hands on learning is what it's all about. I found out that 450s are stock from taking apart my fuel rail assy.:talon:

If you're planning on going with 550cc injectors, you will need something to control them (S-AFC, DSMlink, etc.)

When deciding on the fuel pump, that's up to you. If you ever plan on making more hp than your goals, get a 255lph pump and an AFPR (pretty much a necessity with a 255). If not, you should be fine with a 190lph pump. And in either case, rewire the fuel pump to make sure if gets the necessary voltage.

If your goal is only 250-300hp, you won't need to upgrade your lines or fuel rail. You can replace the lines on either side of the fuel rail if you'd like (from fuel filter to rail and from rail to return line). They're easy to do and would free up some restrictions.

I now have an idea about my path. Here it is:

Metal IC piping
190lph fuel pump
Some new fuel lines.
I'm planning on keeping my 450cc (stock) injectors and throwing in an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator.

My goal is 250hp. I just want some advice on that FPR. I know it's just about pointless to get bigger injectors if I can't get the Dsm link software. I really don't want to yet. Basically, I just want some boltons for cooler intake temperatures and some more fuel to match that.

Maintenance first, then:

Get a logger

Rewire the fuel pump(stock or 190lph)

Boost gauge

2.5 or 3" turboback exhaust

Manual boost controller at 15 or so psi(just so you don't see knock on the logger)

^That should put you around 250 at the crank or so. Porting exhaust manifold, o2 housing, turbo will help, along with IC piping etc. It doesn't take much.

After that you will be dealing with larger injectors, tuning, etc etc

Where do I find the rewiring procedure for the Fuel Pump?:talon:
