I am looking to upgrade my wheels.

Currently they are Evo 8 wheels.

Specs: 17x8 with a 38+ offset.

I am looking for a wheel that will give me this kind of look:

I am looking at cobra rims that are 17x9 with a 24+ offset.: eBay Motors: 17" Gunmetal Morxchn Mustang Cobra wheels rims 94 - 04 (item 380116991961 end time Apr-18-09 23:58:15 PDT)

According from the offset wheel calculator, with current set up, it said my front wheel will stick out about 1 inch from the fender.

Current setup: 8 inches wide with 38+ offset.
New setup: 9 inches wide with 24+ offset.

"The clearance from strut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 1mm MORE
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 27mm"

27mm converted to inches is: 1.062992 inches.

You guys think 1 inch in the front sticking out will look dumb? Keep in mind, I am lowered about 2 inches, I do have negative camber and I plan to lower my car some more and stretch 215s or 225s on the 9 inch rim as well.

My theory with the negative camber and stretched tires, it would actually sink the rims more into the fender. (correct me if I am wrong)

I am not worried about the rears because I would like the rear wheels to stick out (also have negatie rear camber as well and has an aggressive look.) nor about my suspension bouncing because I am going to run coilovers. (8kg front and 6kg rear)

Whatcha guys think?

i dont really like those mustang rims....but man i would like to copy those rims and tires on that eclipse what are they?perfect tire size and offset i love it...!!!!!

Mehh.... It does look badass, but i don't care for the tire fitment. Granted he managed to pull it off and make it look alright, But those tires are pushing it for being too small for that rim.

i love the look, want something like that on mine when i rebuild it. after i get back from afganistan that is.

Love that dsm. It looks killer, although I would go with some tires that fit a little better, maybe a touch of stretch but thats it.:hellyeah:

I don't think it looks too bad. not really my thing, but that car looks alright. DEFINITELY wider tires tho. I think tires stretched like that look stupid. like previous people posted, makes you look like a cheapass or that you don't know squat about cars.

I disagree with everyone. There are some advantages to stretched tires.
it helps when you would like to run really wide or low offset wheels and keep the tire tread at the fender or when you would like to go really low and not rub.

There's no evidence that a stretched tire is more dangerous then a normal one.

As for the cheap issue the tire that stretch the most tend to be at the top of the price list, so let's not go talking about things we don't know, okay?

Also, I am thinking about deep-dishing my future car, with the stretched tires and all.

I say, be different, do it.

top or bottom of the price list. I still think it looks retarded. don't imply that I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm entitled to my own opinion. I never stated it as a fact, just how I think it looks and judging by the posts, I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Top, the stretchier the tire, the more $$$.

I wasn't directing it at ONLY you, people are basing their opinions off of assumptions, and not facts.

I meant that regardless of the price, I don't like the look

and I know you weren't directing it just towards me, but I'm included in your general statement unless I'm mistaken. mine was an opinion, no assumptions made.

ok I don't disagree with your statement. I'm just saying, generally, most people would think it looks cheap. as if the person couldn't pay the extra dollar and get a little more rubber.

it just doesn't make sense to me for someone to run a wide rim and not have an equal width tire. again, thats just my opinion. different strokes for different folks. if that's what you like, go for it, not my car. I'm sure there's a lot of things on my car that people would do differently.

It's more of an EDM thing.

Here's something copied from another forum.

the whole thing started in germany/belgium, local laws required that the tire tread be within the fender line. well that doesnt allow one to run wider or lower offset wheels, so they put narrower tires on the wheel to maintain legality

Thus, some people like this look, the look caught on, bingo.

To me, it makes the car look like it's "faking the funk". It's got wide wheels and looks mean, but at the same time, the owner chose thin tires that look very ineffective in terms of performance. It's like getting a GT35R turbo with no plans of running more than 12 lbs of boost, or a fake hood scoop, or a fake FMIC. It's a waste. Why go through the hassle of trying to make wide wheels fit if you're not going to take advantage of them by using wider tires too?

If you're just going for looks you don't necessarily have to go with such wide wheels that don't fit easily. It just doesn't make sense to me. But then again, people do plenty of things in the world of cars that don't make sense to me I suppose.

To be frank luda, I love it.

It really draws attention to the rims, doesn't it?
It makes it look WAY more aggressive.
Ineffective?
Look at how many drift cars have stretched tires.

Just my 2 cents.
It doesn't mean much :p
