20g's, 18g's and 16g's....Questions...

I would honestly stick with a Mitsu turbo. I know quite a few guys who have blown up there Garrett turbos and have a "warranty" on it. If I was going to have a warranty, I want it from the Vendor I buy it from. That way, they can send me a new one right away and can send the old one away to PTE (or whereever they send it to). I know Garrett turbos are the "new" thing out but until I see someone use it for a daily driver and get 30k miles out of it, I'll stick with a Mitsubishi turbo. :thumb:

OK, Im beginning to narrow my focus. How would a ported and clipped TD05 18g compare with a TD05 20g? How similiar is the spool and power charactertics? Also one guy pointed out the fact that the power band is more linear in a 20g and that an 18g still lost a considerable amount of traction in 3rd. Thanks in Advance. :dsm:

Well, I certainly didn't do it right the first time. First time, I got a Super 60/T25 turbo. Jeez, that was a POS for my goals. Got me to 13.7 in the 1/4, I think.

Second time, I got a small 16G. Better. Got me to a 12.4, eventually.

Third time is the charm, though. I've seen a lot of 50 trims doing a whole lot worse than I am with this 16G. Enough said?
Yes, you are definitely an exception to the rule. Your small 16g time is very, very impressive, IMO. :thumb:

It seems that you are probably maxing out that small 16g, right? Imagine what you could do with a maxed out 50-trim....... All the other 50-trim guys that are doing worse than you probably aren't pushing the limits like you.

Regarding 20g's and internal gates, stop sperading misinformation. Tort's internally gated 20g works perfectly fine and has gone 11.0s.

THANK YOU.

So I take it an internally gated TD05 20g will perform well without creep? Will there be a huge lag vs. power difference in an 18g and a 20g, both TD05 exhaust housings. :dsm:
