20g - Where's the fast ones

This is why I was kinda dissapointed in my numbers. You are flowing 2lb/min more on a 16g. If my boost guage was off by 3 psi that would put me at around 18 19psi and I guess that would make sense. Do you have to have dsmlink to log with a map sensor.

I do have DSMlink but my 3.3 bar map sensor is sitting in the box it got shipped to me in. :coy:

Another thing to note, I do have a ported head. For whatever its worth, I'm not suprised that I am getting a little more airflow than you are.

What about the butt dyno? Notcie any difference?

Also, I pull about 40.1 lb/min w/ my old evo3 16g at about 21-22psi. But my timing or AFR ends up sucking so I can combat knock on 91 octane.

Talking to me? Sure! At 21psi on the 16g, I was only flowing 36lbs/min. I had it tuned at 23psi where I landed it at 38lbs/min. The car feels much better now. I'll update again this weekend with 2 more psi.

I use a autometer boost guage but I didn't go with the cheapo $50 one. I went with the electric unit. I think it use's a 3bar map sensor. So I see no reason for it to be off.

Most mechanical gauges are off from being dropped.

Just saw this thread and I will admit I didn't read the whole thing, but with my current setup I am seeing 42-43 lbs/min at 21 PSI on AZ 91 pump gas. I only made one run at the track and killed the stock head gasket so no times until I finish all my upgrades.

Okay guys....I'm going to install a td06H 20g this weekend.

I'll compare it against my evoIII 16g back to back and share the detailed results. Engine mods are:

7 Bolt - 8.3:1 weisco/scat rods
FP2 Cams, BC Springs
SS valves
BSE
725cc Injectors

Tuned w/ DSMlink, PLX-WB, GM3.3bar.

 Can't wait for the results. I'll be installing my map sensor as well and doing some tuning more tuning. The SMIM will have to wait for another weekend.

The only one I found on my laptop shows up to 38lbs/min with a lot of phanton knock. I will have to see if my buddy that helped me tune has the final logs on his laptop.

Wholly knock Batman! OMG OMG My car acted like that for a while. I then realized that I had a loose rocker arm. :|

Its odd however, that your MAFRaw reading is so high. At 40lbs/min, i just about hit 2200hz.

You're tellin' me. I'm pretty sure it is the stock 125K lifters that are causing it. In all this time that is one thing I haven't changed.

I know I have a small boost leak at my TB shaft seals but it is pretty minor. That might account for some of it. I know that on that tune even with the phantom knock the car would hall ass.

I think I updated the wrong 20g thread. LOL Here is my post from another thread.

Just to give an update to this thread. I participated in an AWD dyno day at Performance Motorsports in Smithtown, NY. The car layed down 334 uncorrected wheel horsepower on a Mustang Dyno and pumpgas. Boost pressure was set to 21psi with a tiny bit of creep to 22psi between 5 and 6000 RPM. I'll be heading to the track this coming Friday with hopefully 24psi and a better tune. I'll update again then.

I know mustang dyno's read low. But isn't that a little like odd for a 20g setup? I don't mean to sound insulting or anything just curious if it's just all in the lack of tuning, piss for fuel (91oct) or what?

Another update:

Went to the track tonight. Car is moving A LOT of air. 45lbs/min to be exact at 23/24psi. This is verified with a gm3.3bar map sensor and the airflow tables tuned via dsmlink. However, I think my stock 160k shortblock has had enough. The car knocks and pulls timing no matter how the tune is. Best pass of the night was 12.2 @ 111mph all on 93 octane. Its hard to go fast when you have less than 10 degrees of timing in third gear and even less than that in fourth. I'm going to lighten the car a little, 3300lbs with me in it as of now, and run c16 next time and give another update. Probably in about a month. 26psi and 20 degrees timing should make this car stupid fast.
