20g install help

i just installed my 20g with a knockoff external waste gate. got everything together and now i am only building only about 5 psi. i have the mbc hooked to the side post of the wastegate and the other connected to the j pipe on the intercooler piping. i have the mbc turned all the way out and still no boost. can someone explain how to hook this thing up and run some boost. any help would be greatly appreciated

you need to tighten it to get more boost

It depends on what mbc you have, but generally clockwise means more boost. The spring in your knockoff external wg might be really soft.

wel what can i do about a soft spring how can i reach the boost that i want to run i need about 10 psi and i might only be gettin 4-5. would i have to upgrade the spring.

Did you try tightening the screw (clockwise)? Any luck?

originally i had the mbc connected to the top of the external wastegate, now whith that said i have the turbo xs standard mbc will i have to tighten it or lossen it? the plus symbol says to lossen it so do i just follow it or should i tighten it?

Generally speaking you turn the MBC clockwise to add spring tension and raise the boost level.


The flow of air through the MBC should be:

Boost source > bottom of MBC > side of MBC > bottom of external wastegate. The top port of the external wastegate should be left open.


If you're only making 5psi, the max you'll be able to achieve without the boost dropping off is around 10psi. You need a stiffer spring to safely run above 10psi; and if you bought a 20G to run 10psi, you wasted your money.
