Grind off the JB weld. Easy fix.

A2 filler (aluminum bronze) works very well for welding cast iron. Silicon bronze filler works great too. They flow well and won't crack. If done properly, you wont have issues with it breaking off again.

Cast Iron Welding Repair

so if i go ahead and get that done, it will have the same structural integrity?

If it is done properly and properly pre heated and slow cooled

The front motor mount is actually just a roll stop. It prevents the engine and trans assembly from rolling along the crankshaft centerline. The term "boss" refers to the protruded area that is casted into the block that provides for a threaded mounting point for something (in this case, a roll stop bracket).

Ok that makes a lot more sence thanks.

Now if i dont have access to a TIG welder, will ill be able to use a MIG? or is the mig welder not going to produce enough heat/strength for what needs to be done?

Years ago, a buddy of mine broke off the front ear on the block that the trans bolts too. His engine was built and he didn't want to scrap the block. And a MIG welder was the only thing he had access to. He welded it and ran it for years, and it was fine.

Weling cast iron is always a gamble. A Mig welder with mild steel wire is not the best option, but it's better than nothing. It's a gamble though and nobody here will be able to tell you how well it's going to hold up. If it were me, I'd do my best at finding the right welder and filler to give myself the best possible chance at a permanent fix.

here is an update on my block problem. after a lot of searching i finally found a bear 6 bolt block to replace the giant paper weight one i have. once i get it in ill send it out to C&M for hot tank and rebuild.

As for the cams, those have been put on the back burner for now.
