Resolved 2014 Kia Optima LX Fuse

I have a 2014 Kia optima LX recently replaced the starter after that my alternator fuse keeps blowing and I went to oriellys to get my alternator tested it’s saying I have a bad charging system. Any idea why my alternator fuse keeps blowing on the battery & also I have heavy sparks when I try to connect the negative terminal that’s when it pops.

Sounds like a dead short. Is either the starter or alternator main power cables touching any metal or another wire? Does the starter work? Did this start immediately after the starter was replaced or when? To eliminate the alt as the problem try disconnecting all it's wires (but be careful to not let them touch anything - wrap tape around any that have bare terminals) and then try connecting battery again. Can also do the same with the starter. Make sure battery is disconnected while disconnecting (and taping) alt or starter cables.

I agree with Gary 100% you probably got the main power cable for the starter grounding off somewhere , since it started blowing that alternator fuse right after you replaced the starter. From what I remember it's a 100+ amp fuse on the positive terminal.

Im just here to say that I would much more rather take an advice from my cat on how to fix my car then listening to another AutoZone employee giving advices. So many time we have customers coming to our shop saying that the AutoZone Master tech sensei guru told them, all the car needs is a $20 sensor and maybe some wiper blades and all their issues will be solved... People bow down to them like they are gods.Then they drive to our shop thinking that they hacked the system or something, after buying the sensor, just to find out an hour later that a lifter on their POS 5.3 Chevy vortec has collapsed and the heads need to come off ........ Good luck changing their minds when you holding a $2k bill...... But the Guru told me.......... God, there is a special place in hell for some of those parts store employees....

Ok, I'm done with my rant now...... Make sure all the power and grounds are routed properly.

Yes it started soon as I got the starter replaced. 30mins later my car battery was dead after the new starter got put it and heave sparking from the battery

went multiple times to the part store and they kept saying the new alternator bad now I’m starting to think my old alternator problem was good but the alternator fuse kept blowing so that’s probably why it was showing bad charging system.

Yes it started soon as I got the starter replaced. 30mins later my car battery was dead after the new starter got put it and heave sparking from the battery

Brand new starter also so I’m just going to back track it has to be something to do with the starter wire

Don't assume any new starter or alt you got from a parts store is good. They are notorious for selling not working ones.

Problem fixed ! The dude that put on my starter had the wires touching metal and caused the alternator fuse to keep blowing
