2001 Eclipse GT Automatic Transmission Problem HELP!

Hi guys , im new here so ill just ask and see if anyone knows whats going on.
I have a 2001 Eclipse GT 3.0 160.000 miles on it. Engine works fine , transmission shifts smooth ( smooth enough ) without jerking or revving up BUT when you try to give it beans and rev past 4000 RPM when it shifts it hits hard , the whole car jerks like drove over a speed bump . Only happens at that point other wise shifts perfectly fine. What can it be?

i hope so , is it hard to replace or do i have to send it to mechanic , also how much am i looking at? Thank you for quick reply .

That said, sounds like the trans is slipping. Check your fluid, if it's burnt, it might be time to pay a visit to your mechanic.
