First off I have searched the forums, and I have researched for weeks and to no avail I have NO idea what is wrong with my car.

The first problem happend after I got my transmission rebuilt at the dealership. It would idle rough and sputter, yet in highr rpm's it would be fine. Also after letting the car warm up(so to speak) It runs fine( no sputtering), yet has less power on the ass dyno.

The second problem is now all of the sudden I can't get the shifter into any gear. I managed to drive home in second gear last night, but even that one gives me a large amount of resistance. However, when i shut the car off it shifts fine. (clutch maybe?)

my mods are
2.5" downpipe, high flow cat, cat back
buschur MBC set at 15 lbs boost
k&N FIPK
homeade 2.5" UICP
1g Bov
ACT 2100lb Clutch 9-10 months old(roughly)

PLEASE help me out, I need to drive this car back to college, and can't afford to take it to the dealer.

thanks
-josh

well for the clutch part that happen to me before is there a leak in the main seal? if so thats your problem

hey. You should take the car back to the dealer and tell them to fix it since it was thier problem in the first place. If he car went there with no problems and came out with some thats wierd. And for ur clutch when u try to put it in gear when running does it grind when u try to put it in gear??

Dan

Thanks for the replys.

And for the clutch question. No it doesn't always grind. For the most part it usually just resists my attempts to put it into gear; however I never force it but i'm sure it would grind if i did.

About the dealership, I do not trust them enough to take it back. The "mechanic" was a whiney little punk when my father asked him to take a ride in the car to see the problem.

try adjusting ur clutch first and also try to rebleed the clutch line. If that still doesnt work, you probably need a new thoughout bearing. Thats what happened to me. It would resist me full and i couldnt get it into any gear at all.

Well my dad readjusted the clutch and to my amazement it fixed it... It turns out that there wasn't enough play in the top area of the pedal, and it was overtightened. So pretty much it was not disengaging all the way when depressed, it was as if I was riding on the clutch all the time :( I hope to god that didn't fry my flywheel or damage the clutch.

also with the other problem we got sick of trying to figure it out so it was sent to a real mitsubishi dealership that I trust so I hope they can figure it out.

The chrysler dealership I went to flat out told me, and I quote,

"We do NOT know how to work on your car, and every time it comes in here we LOSE money"

I guess buick regals and chrysler minivans are easier to work on then DSM's...

Chrystler only works on Chrystler cars..... WTF Hmmm...... We can't work on DSM's because we don't know how..... WTF Hmmm.....
It's not like they don't have manuals for it... LOL

At least they told you that they don't know instead of trying to work on it and breaking it.... which however would have been cool because they would HAVE to replace it.

LOL yeah, but i have a "chrysler" warantee soo thats not even the point. I have to take the car to a dodge/mitsu dealership to get somebody good to work on it. Even then its hard to find a good mechanic w/ all the knowledge +tools.

I like to do work myself but my father and I are tired of messing around with this particular thing.

update: the dealership thinks its a boost leak near the bov flange, they think the bov gasket is bad, so I'm getting a new gasket. Would a leaky bov gasket cause a big enough boost leak to make the car do what it does?

edit: its a 1g bov

also they adjusted my clutch more because they said it still wasn't adjusted right.

So it looks like things are shaping up pretty good.

Have you made a boost leak tester, and looked for leaks yourself? Yes, a bad boost leak can cause a car to run poorly. There could very well be more than one leak. I would look into making a tester (very simple, and cheap) before I would pay the dealership to find ,and fix them.

Well it ended up being a bad 02 sensor, so now they're waiting on the part to come in.

The bov gasket helped but didn't solve the problem.

You think thats bad, my friend went to the Mitsubishi dealership to buy a 1g oil filter for his 96 Talon and they would not sell it to him because they said it would not fit on his car. When my friend told him his car had the same engine as the eclipse the guy at Mitsubishi looked at him like he was stupid. :dsm:

Well, if anybody cares the solution to my original problem was a brand new o2 sensor, a throttle body gasket, and a Bov gasket.

Also the clutch just needed to be adjusted.

If anyone has similar problems, I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help.
