im going to get a 2.4l stroker today its never been started just built and the timing belt needs put on. so iv only messed with my 6bolt 2.0l so is the timing going to be different on the 2.4l stroker or will it be same as manuel says.

all answeres will be appreciated thanks,
Dustin

The timing job will be different because of the 2.4 block being 6mm taller if using 4G63 cam gears. The marks will not line up properly. If they used 4G64 cam gears, then you have nothing to worry about.

That ad states it's been bored to make a 2.4. I'd be leery about that as that's saying the block has been bored .060" over, which is not safe from what I've read (no experience). Those cylinder walls have to be pretty thin with that amount of work. Another question would be was that done out of necessity or laziness, or did they not want to do it properly and find an actual 2.4 block.

well its a 2.0l block that was bored to a stroker and its got a 4g63 cams im pretty sure so i didnt think it would be different, i posted athe site to the car abouve if u want to read it just in case

well i dont know it was built for the strip and it was all done at a shop if thats what u mean and its bored .80 over so i think he said its .86

You cant bore something to make it a stroker. You have to change the crank and pistons. 2.4l crank into 2.0 block with 100mm pistons = 2.3l stroker

Idk how people keep getting confused on this but you CANNOT bore a 4g63 or even a 64 into a 2.4. Long rod 2.1 s are made by putting the 63s 88mm crank into the 64. Which is called destroking.

Boring a 63 .040" over gives you 43cc larger engine. Not anywhere close to a 2.4.

And you cannot make a 2.4l from 63 block as to stroke it you have to use special pistons with the wrist pin moved 6mm higher moving the piston lower on the rod. A 100mm crank I believe is the biggest crank you can use in a 63 block.

If its a 63 using the stock crank and is bored 80over then its not even a 2.1.

Its not a 2.4L.

Yep .060 over will give you a displacement of 2068 vs 1997 on a std block. Any way you cut it increasing bore size will never make something a stroker.

I'm with snowborder when it comes to being skeptical. The engine is a 4g63 with a 100mm crank and 6mm lower wrist pins. In order to bump the displacement from 2.3 to 2.4, the engine was bored out 1.5mm larger. I have never met a machinist who would bore a 4g63 that large, even knowing it's the stock 4g64 bore size. It must be risky if they'll turn down American green-backs.

I'm not saying the 2.4 is a deal breaker at all (although a true 4g64 would be ideal). I'm just saying to pay particular attention to the engine, especially since it has yet to run. I would suggest bringing a wooden dowel (Ace hardware, Lowes, etc) along with a measuring tape. Place the dowel into the spark plug hole and rotate the engine by hand. Going from bottom to top the stick should move a full 100mm (3.9 inches). If not, it's not a stroker.

But I must admit this isn't the only red flag I see in the ad (Evo turbo, 680cc RX7 injectors, stage 4 clutch, etc). Just keep your eyes peeled!

I wouldn't buy anything off him. He has no clue what he's talking about in that ad. Take the WISE advice given in this thread and either stay away (recommended) or be extremely cautious. I know that's not what you want to hear but, go with your intellect over emotion. I've been ripped a few times because I didn't think it through and just got the crap because I really wanted it. I just hate when I or one of my DSM bro's get ripped by an idiot.

well i didnt get it today i said i wanted to think about it. i put a timing belt tensioner on it so i could start it and it did run good i did not drive it yet but i will try that wooden dowel thing to see if it is a stroker. he has all the recipets to every thing done to it he boght the car built like that all hes done is put new interior in and dsmlink v3 new tires ect. he dosent know much about them thats why im working on it. im going back up this weekend to look it over some more and il try to get a list of the engine internals. i appriciate your guys opinions

I posted that originally several months ago on Craig's list. Your right I don't know what I'm talking about as I've only previously built 500+ HP mustangs and ls1 engines and this is my first dsm and it's all foreign to me. However I'll post up the paperwork on the car and measure it tonight and you guys can tell me what I have. And yes they are rx7 injectors from a 84-85 model 680cc and have been flow tested 790-800. The evoIII turbo was what the guy told me it was.. Or big 16g anyways. I'm not ripping anyone off.

There is thousands of dollars of my own money and the person who had it before me in this car.

1995 eagle talon tsi stroker motor Big TURBO built must sell

Here's a link. I updated the add. 4g63 bored 86mm over with eagle h-beam 5.9 rods, 86mm JE pistons, 3.937 eagle crank. Giving it 100mm of stroke.. Thus a 2.4 stroker. There's a picture of the paper work on there as well.
