I have some questions i could not find. I wanna know if it is better to run your engine you build on the loose side or tight side? Also is it better to have it tighter or looser? I am going to have a machine shop do the machine work on it and measure all parts also. I am building a 2.3 stroker. I did not find anything on this. any help would be great.

By tighter and looser....I guess your talking about bearing clearances for your engine build. Most people stick to stock specs as far as those. From what I have learn the weight of oil you plan on running can also dictate the bearing clearances as well, thinner oil for tighter tolerances and thicker oil for looser. I know when I did mine which was years ago I ask for the machine shop to try and get the clearances right in the middle of the specs.

yea would be using stock spec. So I would like to know if i should run the clearances tighter or looser? tighter clearances or looser clearances on mains and rods?

you got the answer to your question, have them do it right in the middle of the stock specs. That is what i have always done and it has never failed me.

Sorry to thread jack but for my engine should I build it tighter or looser. Or looser or tighter? Is tighter better than looser or is looser better than tighter?

Couldn't resist:p

yea i looked when i wrote bake and did notice he did answer my question. I an going to have the machine shop stay close to stock specs. I think i should be fine if i run stock.
