I bought a "6 bolt turbo" motor off the internet for about $800 and had it shipped to my house. It took about 6 months to get here so when I got it I was very relived. Now that I got it off the pallet and looked at it I realized that it had no knock sensor and it doesn’t even look like there is a spot for it maybe I am just missing it. I was wondering if you guys could look at the pictures I posted to confirm that this is a 2.0 turbo or 2.0 n/a. Thanks.

Yea it said it was a complete 2.0 6bolt turbo motor, as you can see its missing a few things but im just more worried about if its a n/a or turbo. Yea it is a 4g63 but isnt the internals different from the 6 bolt n/a and the 6 bolt turbo?

It has a oil feed on the head. At least I can see it. And it doesn't look like it was plugged. And if you look just to the left of the oil filter you can see something there. Now I haven't been under a DSM in over a year now, so I may be wrong, but isn't that where the oil return goes? I think I may be off on that though, and that it is further over to the left. I just can't remember.

Oh, quick way to find out would be to pull the pan and see if there are oil squirters pointed up towards the pistons.

Yea on that motor there, there is a oil line going in right befor the oil filter, so maybe thats it? Ill end up pulling the pan this weekend to check I just wasnt sure if I should bother getting the rest of the parts if I wasnt going to use this motor if its not the turbo one

it may be a 6 bolt turbo, but it looks like a 6 bolt JDM N/T to me...theres no real way to tell until you get the head off, but by the looks of it, i'm sure you'll be doing that shortly.. if it is all you need to do is swap pistons... the rods are the same as a turbo

Not that it means anything in particular, but I see the spot for the knock sensor and it looks threaded.

Pull the VIN from the spot boxed in below and use this to decode it: Decoding VINs. As you can see from that site, the 8th digit will tell you if it is a turbo block or not.

So I can just swap the pistons ill be all set? Or will I have to machine the block to accept tha knock sensor as well? Thanks for the help

Ok, I attached a pic. It is your second one. I circled the oil feed for the turbo in it. There is no reason for that to be without a plug unless it was for the turbo. That pretty much tells me that this is a turbo engine. And the oil pan, but I'm not 100% on that cause I can't really see it clearly.

just checked the vin and the 8th one happened to be a U meaning it is a turbo 1g block! thanks every one for the help! and one last question where abouts would the knock sensor go? I guess that was my problem from the start then. thanks again
