ok, so i replaced my starter recently and i discovered that my engine is a 1st gen. i think thats a good thing right? any who, ive been having this nagging fuel pressure regulator up check engine light and its really annoying me. i was wondering if the 1st gen motor and electrics play well with the 2nd gen computers and would a problem like this check engine lightbe caused by some kind of incompatibility.

thanx in advance

There's no problem using a 2g ECU with a 1g engine. The CEL is probably due to the FPR solenoid missing or unplugged. The FPR solenoid should be right next to the brake fluid reservoir. It's not necessary to have the solenoid, but it can trigger that annoying CEL.

yes ive replaced that already and every once in a while it still pops up. my biggest problem is getting the car inspected.

Yes having a 6bolt in your 2g is a good thing providing its a good motor LOL. Does the light pop on when your first start it?

comes on and goes away most of the time. i did notice that the two bolts that hold down the turbo come loose a lot and when they do i usually get the code and sometimes if i have the idle set too high it comes back too with some other codes
