How do you drop a 1st gen engine in a 2nd gen car is there any special engine mounts i have to add to the car, and another ? does the 2nd gen tranny mount on to the 1st gen crank, ive got the flywheel already if you can help please do so thank you. :dsm: :laser:

well, this is kind of a tricky question, because if your car was a turbo 2g, it would have a mitsu 7 bolt 4g63 engine. but since its a 2g n/t, it has a chrysler 420a engine.

very few people have attempted this swap, because its basicaly a waste of money. for the ammount it will cost you for a new engine, and to install it in the car, you could by a turbo dsm.

the tranny from a 2g n/t will not bolt up to a 1g engine, or any mitsubishi engine for that matter, since its for a chrysler 420a(same engine thats in avengers, and some neons). neither will the clutch, or anything else that was on your previous engine.

you would need, the engine, tranny, clutch, flywheel, intake and exhaust manifolds, throttle body, a downpipe, an intercooler and all its pipeing, the turbo itself, a turbo ecu(and if im not mistaken, you would have to replace the main wiring harness with one from a turbo dsm. this is not easy, iv replaced a main harness in a 2g turbo before due to fire damage), fuel rail, injectors(and possibly fuel pump and FPR, im not sure if either will work with a turbo 4g63 engine and ecu, but they might). and i havent the slightest idea if any of the other things like the ignition, water and oil pumps, ect will bolt up. oh, and we cant forget axels, which you will also need. then you will need countless hoses and lines under the hood, to make the new engine mate up with everythig you didnt have to replace.

so unless you have alot of money to throw away, either buy a turbo dsm or buy a hahn racecraft turbo kit for your 420a. my buddy has one of their kits on his 420a avenger and its pretty fast for a 420a powerplant.
