SAN JOSE,
California
Hi everyone, I own an auto wreckers in San Jose, ca and 2016 gave me a beautiful present (and money pit) to start off 2017 with. When I seen my tow truck driver come back with it on the back of the truck I thought "another piece of junk" then I heard Paul Walker say, "you have no faith, pop the hood" and realized it was a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD.
I began trying to figure out whats wrong with it and get it started, which lead me to blown head gasket. I found another engine but quickly realized there is a few slight differences between the two even though they are both 4g63t engines. Hoping you guys can help me out.
The engine I got is from a 1991 Eclipse turbo and came without a turbo so I pulled the original to check the spline which was good. I noticed lots of or almost all of the turbo piping is different, the timing cover and valve covers are different, and the coil pack/distributor setup, however my interchange programs say that the engines should be the same. I did some researching and couldn't find the reason for these differences except the eclipse engine possibly being a 7-bolt and my original being a 6-bolt. What I want to know is can I use this engine and what should I change to make it work. If my assumptions are right, I will covert the 7 bolt engine over to get the car running and build a 6-bolt monster. I want to get it running and driving before spending a bunch of money on the build so I can know how the rest of the car functions. Thanks and any help would be appreciated guys. Pics of new car.
