have not tore it apart yet. is it hard to remove the flywheel?what could be bad on the flywheel? how could it just go bad?

Seems like its spinning but not engaging, which would mean a bad starter solenoid possibly (unless your flywheel is missing lots of teeth).

what would casue the teeth on the flywheel to be missing? and how would I check the flywheel?

Not sure what would cause the flywheel to lose teeth, (and I would highly doubt thats it) but to check I would think you could remove the flywheel cover on the bottom of the motor and see it there. You could spin it using a half inch rachet on the driver's side of the crank.
