I have a 1Gen eclipse AWD MTX and I'm running the stock 14b at 17 PSI and a stock crushed BOV. Its boosting fine and fast to 17 through the gears, but anyways I raced a decent modded WRX and lost by about a car by or so at 100. After I talk to him and he revs it at me and his BOV goes off like crazy when he pegs it in neutral and lets off, anytime I try to get mine to do that in neutral I make NO boost and it sits around 18 vacuum when I peg it in neutral. Is my turbo/BOV gimp or something? Or can DSM's just not do this?

Thanks!

If you floor it in neutral, it should make a little bit of boost (like 1-4 psi).

You're not sitting at 18 inHg, I guarantee that.

He has a smaller turbo than you, so it is easier to spool.

The stock t-25 will do this. Then again its a 2g gst, so im not sure. I rev it while parked and can hit around 10 psi after redlining. (haha i know this isnt a good thing) My 16g is sitting in the garage waiting for its parts so i can install it :thumb: --Tony

small turbos can make the BOV go off sitting there just reving. But I still dont see why he beat you, What was done to the WRX? when it comes down to the car. a 14B should holds its own against a WRX. I belive a 14B should atleast get a little phss out of the BOV at idle. When was the last time you pressure tested your car?

I agree with KPT it was not 18 inHg when floored.

With my big 16G I can rev to like 4K RPM and hear it just fine - depends a lot on the BOV and weather you're venting it or not.... What brand boost gauge do you have? You're not talking about the stocker, are you?

Right now I'm still using a stock crushed BOV, I just checked it agian when I floor it fast in neutral it goes to like 12-10 Vacuum. It holds 17 PSI and spools to 17 PSI fast so I'm not sure about the boost leak, anyone have a link on how to test it? The WRX had like $7k in mods on it, the only thing he told me of the 7k was turbo back exhaust, so I have no idea what he had. I got him on launch, but he just creeped up and creeped past me to 100, hell maybe I do have a leak somewhere and im getting turbo lag.

What boost gauge are you looking at that is very important information we need to know. Turbos work off load. In park when you rev it there is no load so it will only show 1 or2 psi and that is just from spinning the turbo so fast.

Are you looking at the boost gauge the entire time you are revving the car or just glancing?? This boost spike will be very quick and then the car will return to vacuum very quickly.

I forget my brand of guage, but I know its a good one, it was about $130 when I bought it a year ago. Yea the stock one is worthless. I was just wondering how the WRX could just rev it and get the BOV to go off like crazy when not in gear. I was thinking about getting a 3in GM MAF with the translater and ditch the stock crushed BOV for one that is atmosphere dump.

I had a friend look at it while I reved, he said it goes to 0-1 boost, so I guess no cool PPPPPPSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT for me while not in gear :(
