1g Turbo Automatic idle problem

Hey guys, have a quick question. friend's girlfriend has a 93 awdt talon automatic. in park and neutral it idles at 2k rpm, but in r or any forward gear its at a normal 1000. any idea what could be wrong? idle screws need adjusted maybe or something else? thanks.

Are you saying when started the idle goes up to 2krpm, and stays there..Or when driving, you pull over or whatever and put in park, and it idles at 2k?

I don't know how normal it is but I also have a Auto AWD TSI and when my car is not at running temp the park, and neutral idle is high. When my car gets to running temp it drops down to a quiet 700-800krpm. I have to assume it has got something to do with an auto trans. If you discover somethings off please let me know, sounds like we have the same situation.

When you first start the car, the ecu doesnt care what the sensore are telling it,(closed loop, WOT)..When it warms up the ecu actually listens to things such as 02 sensor and what not, that's why when it's warm it idles better..

do you think that might have something to do with the trans computer, or trans temp?

NO. SIR..Calm down, your car is really ok man..You could adjust idle, but it seems to idle great when warm so no need for concern..

i'm not totally sure if its only when its started but the way it was explained to me it does it all the time. she drives it, at a stop light in D idle is normal but when she puts it in park it spikes and stays at 2k.

Id it stays at 2k, you definatly need to adjust idle...
