Ottawa,
I just bought a 91 laser 1.8L automatic. There is a high idle(1500 rpms) when in park but the problem does not exist when stopped in drive. Should I reset the ECU, or look somewhere else?

I was also wondering what the most common source of oil leaks are in these cars.

Thank very much!

My car used to do this too. There are a few things to look into: Check your TPS, make sure your thottle cable is set correctly, and adjust your BISS screw.

TPS-> TPS Adjustment
BISS-> http://vfaq.com/mods/BISS-1G.html

There is one slight problem the 1.8 does not have a BISS ajustment. There are 2 idle screws on the side of the throttle body for ajustment. After that the ISC takes over to control the idle. As they say no info is better than bad info.

For the OP pick up a haynes manual. page 4-15 it gives the way to set it all up.

I'll give that a shot. Hopefully it's as easy as adjusting the screws.

Thanks.

I thought all models had the same setup, sorry.
