yeah, but the power transistor is listed in the wiring diagram in my dam backup, and others refer to it on 1.8L alot, just noone says where it is

so what must i do? do i have to reaplace the whole distributor?, and also what is the black box bolted to the top of the distributor?

ya you have to replace the hole distributer... u can get a used one off of ebay pretty cheep i wouldn't buy a new they are really exspensive.. that box u siad is just the crc test connector where u hook up a seperate tach to while ajusting your idle..

does anyone know if there is any other thing i can check that might fix the problem, and not be as expensive or something easier to replace b4 hand?

ive checked the cap and rotor of course, no problems there at all, all free of corrosion and like new, ive inspected the ignition coil, the secondary one came up fine but the second one came up kinda different, wasnt much off but was a lil bit more than the .9 to 1.2 ohms. The power transistor, i have not had a chance to check yet. :laser:

also, anyone know where else to get a distributor than ebay, one, i have some disputes with ebay about charges, and 2 theres none listed on ebay anywayz. New or used, doesnt matter

A bonafide DSMer should know all the junk yards in his state, and have all the owners know him by name. Ebay is not the best place.

a true dsmer, has checked all of the junkyards that he can acess... ive checked, no distributors, thanks for the smart comment though :thumb: and yeah the power transistor test on mine shows up as continuity when the power is applied, and only 11k ohms appeared when power was not applied, wondering if my power transistor is going out or what? shouldnt it be like alot more than 11k ohms??

the only thing that controls the spark on the 1.8 is the ecu and the distributer, u said u checked the ecu and its not fried, the only thing left is the distributer and there known for going bad like that...

alright well thanks for all your help guys!
