no spark 1.8l

we have a 1.8l egale summit at the shop and the spark lug holes were coverd in oil.. but i know thats either a valve cover gasket prob or an oil cap gasket prob.. but there is no spark it would turn over but just wont start we tryed a diffrent plug and still no spark the rotor button looks good and im guessing next would be the coil pack.. i looked around and couldent find one


Does anyone know where they are or if they have one? we got the car non running on trade in and would be nice to get it out and sold i dont think it would be the ecu just something to do with the plugs and wires


the story behind it is that the guy took it to the store shut it off came back out and it wouldent turn over i havent checked for fuel yet because we did spark frist and thier wasnt any so thats the first place to start

start off by checking all the wires for spark. It could be very well the ecu, they are knoun for not giving a signal for spark when going bad or are already bad but thats not the only thing that happens, when the ecu goes bad it also doesn't send a pulse to the injectors to open up to spray gas, so thats another thing to check for. The 1.8 does have a coil but the thing is its in the distributer and can't be replaced the whole distributer has to be replaced. Both the ecu and distributer are knoun problems for going bad and giving this problem... good luck
