I am having a tough time finding replacement for the throttle body screw. I managed to get one out but stripped the other. The size is 4mm x .75 thread which is a weird size. Home Depot has .7 and .8 but no .75. If anyone knows where I could order that size please let me know!

The best thing to do to make sure you get the right screws is to get them from a Mitsubishi dealer. Since you have a Eagle Talon TSi AWD, just tell them that you have a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and that you need the screws for the throttle body. Hopefully they won't give you a hard time by telling you that you must show them a VIN number. Thats what they threw at me when I needed 1G parts for the head swap I did to my 2G. :sneaky:

Or as hard as it is, maybe you can find a turbo dsm at a junkyard and get the screws from there.

Mitsu doesn't sell those screw seperate. They make you buy the full throttle body. I went to the junkyard today, no luck because all the 1g's didn't have motors or anything. I came across another mitsu (dunno what model) that seemed to have similar screws, but those were stripped as well.

Try a Mirage, Galant, or most Hyundai throttle bodies should use the same screws. Or tap the threads to a larger size that you can source locally. Just make sure to secure them in there tight so they don't fall loose.

use lock tight on the screws so they dont come out. get yourself a spair throttle body off ebay or something. to remove the stripped screw your going to have to drill it and tap it. i dont remember off the top of my head what the tool is called but you drill a hole in it and insert the tool with reverse threads on it so when your loosening your actually tightening and the shaft gets in their so good that while your loosening you loosen the bolt out. sorry if you dont understand

Do yourself a favor and pick up one of these. I have dis-assembled four throttle bodies with one and none of the screws got messed up. Prior to purchasing the impact screwdriver, I was trying a normal screw driver and almost ended up in the same situation you are in. You will be amazed how easy it is with this tool. $6.99 It is the best way I have found to remove those screws.

the screws have already been removed, I understand the concept of extracting screws.

Does that tool require air? I don't think I quiet understand how it works?

No. It just requires a hammer to hit it with. This tool transfers the power of an impact into a turning motion on the screw driver end. The impact also helps to loosen the screw too.

Sounds like you have a good source to pick up replacement screws too. You should be all set now.
