I looked and looked and couldn't find an answer. The FSM shows a general picture of what an O-ring is and how it seals but couldn't find a solid answer either way. So, 1G guys who are familiar with A/C....does this fitting need an o-ring? It's on the driver's side of the consider. I guess what you'd call the high side line? IDK.

Picture.

And here's what I could find in the FSM. Just a stock photo or does it need an o-ring?

I owe @pauleyman and @1990TSIAWDTALON both an apology. Both were correct, there is in fact supposed to be an o-ring there.

The problem ended up being that both o-rings were stuck inside the second picture(of both sets of pictures) and were black. So I didn't see any o-rings on or around them when I looked.

Sooooooo, I'm just gonna wear my "I'm an asshole, but I'm sorry" hat for the rest of the day. And consider this thread truly resolved. Lol. Damn it. I wasn't intending to be mean or sound rude, but either way man to man I iz sorries.

Also....this is a bad thing right? Could be a leaky spot/source...
Since no one can or will answer, I'll answer myself.

I assembled the system and tightened both fittings without an o-ring, and neither of these leak according to my UV pen light and dye in the system.

So apparently the answer is no. Will update in the future if that changes.

Im confused. The photo literally says oring installation and shows a picture but yet you didnt install one?

All AC fittings use (well 99%) orings on all of the tube fittings. My son and I have replaced every single line on his old Honda and every connection has an oring. Hate to see you waste Freon and let it loose in the air.

No offense meant/not trying to sound mean, but it doesn't matter what your sons Honda uses. It's not going to be identical to a DSM A/C system. May be similar, but similar doesn't equal same.

If no one else has any personal experience or first-hand knowledge of a 1G DSM's A/C system using o-rings on these fittings, I'm counting this resolved. Because it's not leaking from these fittings without o-rings, and someone on FB stated it seals with the flanges and not any kind o-rings.

If someone would like to show pictures or provide some kind of evidence showing that I'm wrong, that would be great too.

Its been a long time but I recall an oring there and the FSM picture you posted shows one. I dont understand why you think there isn't one when your own picture explains it all.

Nah man it's all good. I've done ac on so many different cars/trucks so when you see a fitting with a flange, it is there to hold a oring in place. I showed your picture to my son, the lead mechanic at his shop, and we both said we were sure it should have one. Most tube connections will need at least one, he is working on a Ford SUV with rear air and told me one line used 3 orings. ✌️
On your last post, IDK if 2 are needed but if they fit and tighten up (not monster tight) then it would work. I bet the book just calls for one though.

Sadly it’s not two o-rings, it’s one. It looks like it was pinched.

Oh shit, I didn't notice that. Do you have an oring assortment? Some orings are same diameter but different thicknesses. Try a thinner oring.

It’s a “kit” that’s supposed to be for this car but I’m quickly finding out upon searching that just an assortment kit is better. Oof.

Ah well. Live and learn.

We had to go to Autozone and buy an assorted kit for one of ours also so I'm not surprised. Get it buttoned up, vacuumed down and AC blowing COLD AIR :)

I really hope so man. I want A/C for this thing so bad.
