is the 93 1g non turbo FWD a 6 bolt or 7 bolt and what do you guys think would be the best way to build my motor to withstand a decent amount of boost as in 20 to 30 psi. i know it will take a while and i would need cams, cylinder heads, rods, etc.

if you have any opinions on the best choices for parts please let me know also.

thanks

its a 7bolt. Do a 4g63t 6bolt swap. Pounds doesn't matter so much but what turbo do you want to run? Or power range do you want?

PSI/pounds is not relative. You need to know CFM so what turbo are you going to use; 30psi from a 16g =/= 30psi from a 35R.

Also the rate as which you get to your determined psi on the turbo depends on the size so one turbo may spool to that by 4000 rpm while another may get there at 6000.

Cams are only used to shift your power band to match the turbos map of efficiency.

Okay than I want to get between 300 and 350 the cheapest and SAFEST way possible can I do that with my 4g63n/t 7 bolt? Or do I have to get a swap. So do I need different cams or can I get the cams out of a stock 4g63t?

You can use any 16G to get 300-350whp. However, the N/T pistons have a much weaker ringland and are much less forgiving to ANY mishap during tuning. ONE little knock hiccup at the 300whp level and you crack the ringland and will be buying new pistons. Better off finding a turbo motor and starting with that.

I would just throw some turbo pistons in the non turbo block. Everything else will be fine. Might look into some stock turbo cams also.

So basically get a turbo motor pit strong pistons in and I can achieve my goal safely? Will the fwd transmission line up with the motor. Sorry I don't know the tech language just makin sure I don't need an awd tranny also although it would be great

Your NT motor is the same as a turbo motor minus oil squirters. You can use your block and rotating assembly but just get forged pistons (since you don't have squirters). It would be best to get stronger rods as well as they are the weak part (aside from NT pistons).

An AWD transmission is for an AWD vehicle using a transfer case and a rear diff. You don't have any of that so you would use your FWD transmission.

No, just throw some stock turbo pistons in your bottom and it will be the same thing minus the oil squirters. It will take 350 horsepower all day long if you put it together right and have the car tuned properly.

That's what i figured I know there identical and mostly the same motor. So get forged pistons better rods and 4g63t cams and I was thinking about getting the awd ecu and putting it in kind and the 450cc injectors out of one and also maf and type pump

Does anybody not care that the NT block doesn't have a provision for a knock sensor? Or the fact that this guy should swap out his ecu/injectors/maf to do this the right way?

I'm pretty sure that he asked what it would take to build the engine, not to convert the car to turbo. That is why those were not covered.
