1g knock sensor in a 2g

I dont know if the 1g knock sensor gives the ecu a different signal than the 2g, so my question is can I use a 1g knock sensor in a 2g?

You could but it would suck. Use the knock sensor that matches the ECU.

I read that post already but it doesn't make sense, I know they are different but i dont know if they throw a different signal and i have my 2g knock sensor but at the base the ground is all frayed and not connected, the 1g is from a 90 it does plug right into my 95 harness so can i try it or does it not work at all?

You cannot swap knock sensors between 1g and 2g.

Yes they have different signal levels and that's why the sensor needs to match the ECU.
It won't damage the ECU but the sensor will either not read the knock or be too sensitive, I forget which but it doesn't matter, use the right one.

Alright thanks guys. Is there any way to fix the ground on my 2g one the ground is all frayed around the base.

Alright so I just cut my 2g knock sensor up and found that the ground wire that wraps around the wire does not even go into the sensor so why do they have this ground that's not connected to any thing?

Does any one know why this is? or how the knock sensor works exactly I really dont have the money for one right now.
