Resolved 1g how to remove hood latch assembly

There’s this plastic piece on the drivers side that I don’t want to break. How do you remove it?

Pull it out using the white clip. Just like under the dash latch.

Remove it from the spring then push the bottom in

The plastic holds the cable in place and it has to be removed to get to the 10mm that bolts the latch assemble.

I cant see it. Cable looks to go through metal bracket. Can't see whats beyond that.

I see it. It appears to me that its a spacer to make sure the cable actually pulls the latch instead of moving the bracket. If that's the case pretty sloppy design.

Had this plastic on my 91 latch but not in my 94. Seem to work fine with or without it

Now that I know how to remove, it’s no big deal

I can see now how it won’t make a big difference without it.
