I installed a 1G head (1G CAS) with HKS 272/272 combo. (other mods in my profile) I had a few leaks, thought I fixed them. The car was running ok, minus a little weird timing, but none-the-less it was on the road.
Today, driving on the highway out of nowhere the RPMs drop to zero and I can't step on the gas. I pull over and the car stalls out. Then it won't start up! The factory coolant gauge is in the middle with the car key on the on position and the factory boost gauge is in the middle. I call AAA get it towed to my place. I check everything under the hood, scratch my head a few times because everything is ok, turn the key and bam it starts. But, if i put it into drive (A/T) the RPMs go sort of erratic and it just stalls out when I go to give it gas.
Do you think it's another leak somewhere? Any other suggestions or experiences? I hope this gets solved already. Thanks in advance.

if the factory boost gauge is in the middle without the car running, it seems like an ecu problem or maybe an maf problem to me......have you had it checked for codes yet???....that's prob first.:dsm:

No codes. I'm running DSMLink, so the factory boost gauge is set to display knock and coolant temp (if it gets too high). The car starts and idles fine in Park, but the moment I shift it into gear, it just buckles and stalls. I'm wondering if the load from going into gear and the drop in RPMS plus maybe an air leak somewhere is causing this. I'm going to have to just take off all teh IC pipes and the T-Body and reseal everything. I just won't be able to get to it for a few days.

in that case, now i'm thinking it's a tranny problem....torque convertor, torque convertor solenoid, valve body ......somethin like that...:dsm:

DEf a ecu problem imo. I had similier symptons on my n/a gs. I had to get a new ecu and it never happened again.

I had the car shut off on the highway while i was doing 70mph. I mean completely shut off with the steering wheel locking on me and brake pedal getting stiff. After letting the car sit for about a hr on the side of the highway the car starteed up again as if nothing was wrong.

i kinda have the same problem but i know my tcu is bad since its all burnt ahhh not bothhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just an idea, but take battery out over night to reset computers and see what happens. I dunno

If this just started happening after you installed the 1G head, it probably has something to do with the cam angle sensor. You can log the output in DSMlink I believe. I would log this and post it on the DSMlink forum. When it stalls out what does your boost gage say? What kind of vaccuum are you pulling at idle?

I haven't had time to log it yet, but I will soon. Vacuum reads between -10 and -8 in P, but the moment I put it into gear it the rpms go nuts and the vacuum jumps to 0 and just stalls when I try to give it gas.

Good and bad news. The good is that the UICP was off the coupler a bit and caused the car to stall in gear. I fixed that and the car was ok. I drove it around for a bit.
The bad is after driving for about 10 minutes, the car started to feel funny and i noticed the temp gauge started to rise a bit so I pulled into an empty parking lot to see what was going on, looked under the car and then I noticed coolant dumping all onto the ground, and I mean a lot. I got in and drove it easy back to my house and parked it. When i popped the hood I noticed the overflow bottle full and bubbling. I waited a few minutes till everything started to cool off. It looks like one of the 2G sensors is leaking from the threads. I guess I'll take it all off and reseal it.
Any other thoughts?

I'm going to get another water neck assembly, some teflon, and a new 180 degree thermostat, swap everything and then cross my fingers that it's smooth driving from there.
