Well this past week my timing belt skipped teeth and bent all of the valves, so i'm getting ready to have a new head put in. A friend of mine is going to put a head from his 2g on my 1g for pretty cheap (I don't have much cash left, since I just bought this car.)

The head will be going on with ARP Studs, and the Mitsu Multi-Layer gasket. So basically what I'm wondering is, since I already have a 7 bolt, and it is another 7 bolt head going on, how much is this going to affect performance if we keep the intake manifold, throttle body, etc? Will it even work?

Thanks

You are going to lose a significant amount of power with that switch. The 2G head has significantly smaller intake ports which will also not match your 1G intake manifold ports, causing turbulence and power loss. Once you have the money, you will switch back to a 1G head. 2G heads are good for bulk aluminum, that's it.

Would it be a better idea, if possible, to switch the valves and valve guides into the 1g head that the valves are bent in. That way i still have the flow of the 1g, with the new valves and guides and everything will work normally? :thumb:
