So im getting my motor back finally and the machine shop says u need new lifters. So i look and the 2G eclipses are special order for me but i can get the lifters for a 1G. Will the lifters from a 6 bolt head fit and work ok in 7 bolt head.
I need to put my motor in soon and dont want to wait another week for them to get shipped and info or pointers much appreciated. This is all for a 99 gsx, thanks

yes they will work, but have a smaller oil hole in the tip.

Hit E-BAY, find a guy named Engnbldr, and get a set of the 3g revised lifters, his come from the same plant that Mitsu hand them made at in Canada.

I know the heads are quite a bit different, but I think the lifters are the same. however I would use these very reputable person and there upgraded lifters. the 1g lifters oiling hole is smaller and better chance of getting lifter tick.

LASH ADJUSTERS lifters 4G63 16 valve 3MM Eclipse Talon | eBay

LOL 2 mins too late this always happens to me haha

Yes those are the ones I am talking about!

I have 2 or 3 sets on my parts shelf that I use in the 4g heads I build.

When you get them From Engnbldr, tell him BogusSVO sent you!

I actually just bought there 16 valve, valve guise, lifter deal for 205 a cpl weeks ago. all I read was good things about them and there the cheapest I have seen anywhere. I was actually looking up the ebay listing when you posted to go to him to the OP. either way he has two ppl recommending him and the ebay post to get the lifters.

1 and 2g lifters are the same thing. Just get a half gallon of diesel and let them soak in it for a few days than pump it out and soak them again. This is what the factory service manual recommends.

these will be brand new lifters i should not need to clean them so can i just soak in oil or should i soak the new ones in diesel

So your doing the lifter install correct?

Don't worry about the diesel, that's just for cleaning USED ones.

If you don't know already (my bad if you do) make sure to bleed them / install properly, there's a bunch of good articles with pics, torque specs, sequence, etc. You don't need to clean them since they are new, just pre-oil them and bleed them down so you don't bend valves or make installation a biotch.

Lifter VFAQ

Wow thank god someone posted this I never thought ebay would be trusted but it seems these are pretty good lifters. Good to keep in mind for my upcoming build.

Well it just depends on the product and the seller on there. You may have someone selling an actual gt 35r or a knock off, built like junk, with no repair parts available, ruined in 50 miles gt 35r. The later is usually the one everyone is saying ebay junk unless the other seller is a lying pile.

I got a full set of valves, lifters, and guides from engbuilder with a :thumb: of approval from Bogus. Miller import is on there, Maperformance along with a couple other vendors that are well known and trusted. Its just another selling medium to get product sold.

I would just stick with the 1g lifters. I've always just ran 1g ones and never had a problem, also they keep less oil pumping out into the head!

I am having the same problem. I just bought a 97 talon which is completely stock, and the lifters are rapping really badly. I have an extra 1g head off my old car with 1g lifters and I know those were quiet.
The thing that concerns me is that someone I was talking to said 1g lifters are taller and I may bend valves.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I need some peace of mind here....

Actually if you research forward on this part, you will find that Mitsubishi has superseded all of the 1g and 2g 4G63 lifters to the Evo part number, and those use the large 3mm style oil hole.

I just put some Evo ones in my head last year (along with the rockers, valve springs and exhaust valves).

Honda burner.... Whomever told you that the 1g HLAs in a 2g head may bend valves, may not know what they are talking about.

For the most part, every part in a 1g head will work in a 2g head, Valves, springs, followers, HLAs, locks, seals, spring pads.

Thank you bogus. I was hoping you were around to answer that for me. That is exactly what I wanted to know.

ok so i know im not answering the question but hoping im in the right place. i have a 90 laser turbo and when it is cold it has a knock above 3000rpm from the timing belt side of the motor it goes away when warm but i compression tested it and cylinder on timing belt side has lower compression.
